The United States Embassy in Accra has donated four (4) Toyota Hilux and ten (10) Yamaha XT 250 motorbikes to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Ghana Police Service, to support the Drugs Law Enforcement Units (DLEU) set up in the following Regional Capitals; Koforidua, Sunyani, Tamale and Ho, in the Eastern, Bono, Northern and Volta Regions, respectively .

The donation, which was made on Tuesday, 18th of June, 2019, at the forecourt of Police CID headquarters, was engineered by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the revered Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in the US, as part of the field-based technical cooperation projects, to enhance capacity of member states of UNODC, to counteract illicit drugs, crimes and terrorism.

Presenting the items, Mr. Anthony McCrorey of the US Embassy in Ghana, said the vehicles should assist in the fight against drug menace in Ghana, whiles the Director-General/ CID – Commissioner of Police (COP) Mrs Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah, who received the items on behalf of the Police Service, assured that the items would be released to the DLEUs, for the purposes for which they were donated.
