The 86th Ghanaian Battalion serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has donated some items to the Special Needs School in the community of Ayt Ash Shaab.
The Commanding Officer (CO) – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Abass Atuluk, who joined the Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) team, presented food items, toiletries, clothes, sanitary products and a First Aid kit to the school on Thursday, 19 December 2019.
GHANBATT 86, as part of the mission’s Multinational CIMIC team also donated some toys to the Al Boustan Public School on the same day.
A feast and a donation also took place at the Grandmother and Grandfather Elderly Home on Saturday, 21 December in Rumaysh, where a 55-inch television set, glucometers and sphygmomanometers, were presented to the home, in fulfilment of a request made during an earlier visit to the facility.
Members of the home were also treated to music and some Ghanaian and Lebanese cuisine.
The donations form part of activities outlined for the festive season and is also in line with the battalion’s routine humanitarian assistance provided to the communities, within its Area of Operational Responsibility.
