Contingent Commanders (CONTICOs) for United Nations-African Union Mission In Darfur (UNAMID) Formed Police Units (FPUs) have been challenged to be more robust, vigilant and professional in executing their functions, so as to achieve UNAMID mandates.
The CONTICOs met to discuss issues affecting FPU operations and how to improve their performances as they converged at the Conference Hall of Block 14, at the El Fasher Super Camp for two days, from Monday, 6th January 2020,
In his opening speech, the Acting Police Commissioner – Dr. Sultan Azam Temuri, stated that FPUs are very important and pivotal players in Peacekeeping Operations, and their efforts and contribution towards attaining UNAMID mandates, cannot be overemphasized.
One after the other, FPU CONTICOs made presentations, highlighting their achievements and some of the challenges they are faced with.
In the evening, a cultural festival was hosted by Bangladesh FPU in honour of the Ag. Police Commissioner and his fellow Principals at Bangladesh FPU Camp.
Present among UNAMID Principals were; Chief BOI Mr. Muhammed Zia Khan, Chief Supply Chain Management and OIC Director of Mission Support Madam Campbell Bright, FPU Coordinator Mr Irfan Masood Kashfi, Police Legal Advisor Col. Dr. Ali Alimat and SLO South Darfur Mr Omar El Dabash.
