The Signal Training School (STS) – a pillar of military operations of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), has now been fitted with a befitting Parade Square at the school’s premises, giving the school a major face-lift.
The commissioning of the rehabilitated square, which took place on Wednesday, 4th December, 2019, also had the graduation ceremony of forty-eight (48) students who had undergone an 18-week course in Signal BIII-BII and Signal Basic Courses 1/2019.
Major General (Maj Gen) William Omane Agyekum – Commandant of the Military Academy and Training Schools (MATS), and also the Guest of Honour for the 2 occasions, commissioning the square, said the renovation of the square became imperative in an attempt to provide a well tarred Parade Square for the School and also to improve on the professional outlook and military bearing of students.
The Commanding Officer (CO) of STS – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Peter Abban, expressed appreciation to Kantanka Group of Companies – for providing all chippings used for the project, Platinum Seal Ltd – for providing over 9,000 litres of Bitumen and personnel, African Concrete Products Ltd – for providing 260 pieces of curbs and 20 pieces of concrete slabs and FACOL Ltd – for providing heavy duty equipment and personnel for the ground work.
