A successful ceremony to hand//take over Command of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic Congo (MONUSCO) has been held at the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Battalion (GHANBATT) Headquarters at the INCAL complex, in Kinshasa, between GHANBATTs 14 and 15, following the completion of the mandate of GHANBATT 14.
Commanding Officer (CO) of MONUSCO GHANBATT 15, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Sebastian Abraham Arhin, on Sunday, 24th March 2019, took over the mantle of authority and operational responsibilities from the CO GHANBATT 14, Lt Col Bernard Baba Pantoah.
In a reconciliation conference which preceded the ceremony, key appointment holders of both battalions cross-checked handing and taking over notes to ensure a smooth transfer of authority, as the two COs appended their signatures to the handing/taking over notes.
The Reviewing Officer for the occasion, the Western Commander/Contingent Commander (CONTICO), Brigadier General (Brig Gen) EW Kotia, in his address, commended the CO and personnel of GHANBATT 14 for their display of professionalism during their tour of duty and urged CO GHANBATT 15 and troops to emulate same qualities of the immediate past GHANBATT.
To climax the ceremony, a Guard Changing parade was conducted at the forecourt of the battalion headquarters, during which the CO of GHANBATT 14 handed over the United Nations flag to the CO of GHANBATT 15, to signify the official transfer of authority.
