The Female members and the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of the Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT 15) in the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO), have organized a special service and lunch, cut a symbolic cake and honoured their Commanding Officer (CO), to honour Fathers in general and those in the Battalion in particular, as part of the Father’s Day Celebration.
As Captain (Capt) Rita Oduro – the Laboratory Officer of GHANBATT 15 presented a special message on behalf of women to celebrate Fathers, RSM Senior Warrant Officer (SWO) Asula Ibrahim presented a citation on behalf of the battalion to the CO – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Sebastian Abraham Arhin, at a service held on Sunday 16 June, 2019, at the GHANBATT Headquarters Church Auditorium, INCAL Complex, Kinshasa.
CO Lt Col Arhin, in an address to troops to mark the day, praised fathers for their significant contributions to the transformation of families and the affairs of the world, stating that the world has moved forward significantly, and will continue to do so, because of fathers.
The CO congratulated all fathers, especially those who work hard to provide leadership, mentorship, care and comfort to families, societies and the world as a whole and pointed to the unique nature of fathers – who in God’s infinite wisdom have been imbued with a deep sense of love, purpose, ability, willpower and strength.
Lt Col Arhin, however stated that fathers cannot escape blame for the numerous wayward children, suffering widows and divorcees, as well as all the endless tensions and conflicts that the world goes through, opining that fatherhood is required in the society, to be the guiding light and pointing to the right direction and destination, at all times.
The CO, after being honoured for his qualities as a teacher, inspirer and a counsellor whose primary concern had been the welfare of his troops, in turn presented a television to the females of Bravo Company.
