The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Ghana Battalion 86 (GHANBATT) has conducted a Donation Exercise in collaboration with UNIFIL Civil Affairs Unit to the Ayta Ash Shaab Social Development Center and Beit Leif Community Clinic at the GHANBATT Headquarters in Al-Quozah.
The Commanding Officer (CO) of GHANBATT, Lieutenant Colonel Abass Atuluk, on Tuesday, 14 April 2020, presented the items which included Twenty Boxes of assorted Pediatric Medications, Forty Litres of Disinfectants and Forty Litres of Liquid Soap to the two communities.
The aim of the donation was to support these communities in their preventive measures to fight the spread of COVID-19, as well as provide essential medication for children in these communities.
The Mayor of Beit Leif, Mr Mohammed Homayed and Doctor Siham Droubi, the Director of Ayta Ash Shaab Social Development Center, who received the items on behalf of the communities, expressed gratitude to GHANBATT for the gesture at this critical time and their continuous support to them.
The pediatric medications were donated to the battalion before their deployment from Ghana by Ernest Chemist Limited, with other donors of medications to the battalion being M&G Pharmaceutical Company Limited, Tobinco Pharmacy, Danadams Pharmacy, and Pharmanova Company Limited.
During the initial outbreak in February, GHANBATT refurbished an ambulance for the Marwahin community which would come in handy in the fight against the spread of CODVID-19.
