S/Lt Ezekiel Ako, South Sudan

The Muslim community of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) made up of Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT), the Formed Police Unit (FPU) of the Ghana Police Service and Sector North Headquarters personnel, donated assorted food items to the Muslim community in the Protection of Civilian (PoC) camp in Bentiu, Unity State.

The donation which was made on Friday 17 May, 2019, to support the Muslims in the PoC, in the period of fasting and to make them aware of UNMISS’ solidarity and support when required.

The Commanding Officer of GHANBATT, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Antwi Awuah Darkwa, who made the donations, stated that the gesture of sharing indicated the love and care the UNMISS Muslim community in Bentiu had for the PoC members and urged them to remain positive and steadfast in the holy month of Ramadan so as to experience Allah’s blessings.

The GHANBATT Imam, Lt Abdul-Majeed Shuaib Suleiman, on behalf of the recipients, expressed their gratitude for the donation and promised to use the donations for the good of the people in the community and not only Muslims.
