The Ghana Navy in partnership with Great Minds Events LLC (GM) and in collaboration with the Ghana Air Force, will host the 2nd Edition of the International Maritime Defence and Exhibition Conference (IMDEC 2021), to highlight the significance of Air-Maritime Cooperation.
IMDEC ’21, a 2-Day event, will be hosted at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel, Accra, Ghana, from Tuesday 6 to Thursday 8, July 2021, with the theme “Maritime Security and Trade, the Nexus between a Secured Maritime Domain and a Developed Blue Economy”, and will have greater participation from regional Air Forces, and is expected to bring together about fifteen (15) Chiefs of Navies and Air Forces from across Africa.
Additionally, several international maritime experts will be speakers, panelists, delegates and exhibitors from global defence industries, will be present to share ideas and deliberate on maritime security issues facing the Gulf of Guinea Region, which has witnessed a surge in threats to maritime security in recent times.
The main objectives of IMDEC ’21, would be to strengthen regional cooperation and interoperability, and to promote inter-agency approaches to curbing maritime insecurity, and also seek to highlight the link between a secured maritime domain and a developed blue economy.
As part of the activities lined up, there will be a Site Visit by the attendees and delegates to the Western Naval Command (WNC), Sekondi of the Ghana Navy, and the Air Force Base, Takoradi, of the Ghana Air Force, on Tuesday 6 July 2021, followed by the official opening of the Conference on Wednesday 7th July, 2021, by the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana – Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, will be the Guest of Honour at the Closing Ceremony, which will be on Thursday, 8th July, 2021.
