As part of the Diamond Anniversary celebrations since the inception, the Ghana Navy embarked on a route march, from Circle, Accra, through some principal streets, enroute to the Navy Headquarters at Burma Camp.
The route march, which was on Monday 29th July, 2019, was led by the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) himself – Rear Admiral (R/Adr) Seth Amoama, with support from his Chief Staff Officer (CSO) Commodore (Cdre) Issah Yakubu, National Coordinator, Fisheries Enforcement Unit – Cdre Emmanuel Kwafo, a large number of naval officers and many ratings.
The event also saw the CNS – R/Adr Amoama, plant a tree at the Navy Headquarters, for a lasting memorial of the Sea Lords’ creation since July 29th, 1959, by the President of Ghana – Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
A chain of activities have been lined up in commemoration of the celebrations, including an ‘open day’, family day, humanitarian activities, medical outreaches, drill display, ceremonial parade, a memorial day, a banquet and climaxed with a Thanksgiving Service on 13th October, 2019 at the Burma Hall, Burma Camp, Accra.
