The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is to host a two-day conference branded INTERNATIONAL DEFENCE EXHIBITION & CONFERENCE (IDEC ’22), to formalize discussions on growing terror threats and transnational crimes of significant security concerns in the Africa Region, and to identify appropriate strategies to address them.

The 2-day Conference and Exhibition, will be a maiden collaboration of the Three Services of GAF (Army, Navy and Air Force) in that respect, in partnership with Great Minds Events LLC (GM) and Gulf of Guinea Maritime Institute (GOGMI), and would be held from Tuesday 11 to Wednesday 12 October, 2022, at the Burma Hall, Burma Camp, in Accra, Ghana.

IDEC ‘22 under the theme: “Strengthening International Collaboration to Combat Terrorism and Transnational Organized Crimes”, would bring together delegates from the top hierarchy of Armed Forces, Government, Law Enforcement Agencies, Academia, Military Solution Providers and other stakeholders in the Defence industry from Africa and beyond, with international security experts as Speakers and Panelists.

IDEC ’22 has its antecedents with International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (IMDEC) – a Ghana Navy (GN) initiative – whose inaugural event was on 24-25 July 2019, to commemorate GN’s 60th Anniversary, and to proffer answers to deal with issues threatening the economic benefits of the Gulf of Guinea.

Subsequently, the 2nd IMDEC was on 7-8 July, 2021 in Accra, as a collaboration of the GN and the Ghana Air Force, hosting over 15 Chiefs of Navies and Air Staff from across Africa, along with 300 international Senior Officers from Navies, Air Force, Coast Guards and Marine Police, with an agenda to secure the maritime space of Africa, as well as stabilizing economic advancement and security in the Gulf of Guinea.
