Five persons – an Officer and four Soldiers – from various Units of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) SUPPLIES & TRANSPORT (S&T) directorate, have been honoured with a five-day all-expenses-paid pleasure travel package to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for their hard work and diligence to duty.
The Director, S&T – Colonel (Col) Bessa Kwao-Adotey, awarded the personnel who are staff at various units under his directorate, nationwide, on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at his office at Burma Camp.
The honoured personnel, who flew out of the country on Thursday, August 19, 2021, were Lieutenant (Lt) CHARLES OSEI OFORI – Armed Forces Supplies and Transport Training School, Warrant Officer Class 1 (WOI) OWUSU FREDRICK AMOAH – Defence Mechanical Transport Battalion, WOII DARKWAH AARON ISRAEL – General Headquarters Supplies and Transport, WOII AMPEM-DARKO – Base Supply Depot and Staff Sergeant (S/Sgt) MOFFAT DORIS – Six Supply Depot, Tamale.
At the ceremony to award the winners at his office, Col Kwao-Adotey commended all the staff of the Directorate, especially the 5 awardees, for their virtues that had enabled them to deliver their assigned tasks, stating that the award scheme would be executed annually.
Stating the essence of instituting the incentivizing scheme, Col Kwao-Adotey disclosed that he was inspired by the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) – Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah’s award scheme at the Southern Command Headquarters and Army Headquarters for Best Staff and Directors.
The Director further said that his intention for instituting the scheme, was to uplift the morale of troops and appreciate them for their distinguishing role to GAF, thus, he encouraged the awardees to continue their good works and professional conduct, and not get complacent by the recognition they have received.
Col Kwao-Adotey further advised all personnel of the S&T Directorate, to be motivated by the scheme and be resourceful and disciplined to attract the attention of their commanders, in order to get considered in subsequent years.
The Director revealed that the award scheme was a collaboration of his directorate with some of its corporate partners, which had ticket sponsorship by the quartet JOHNSONS TRAVEL & TOURS, EUROTOUR TRAVELS, WI-TECH TRAVEL & TOURS and JUBILEE TOURS, and financial provision to the travelers by the trio Mr. Robert Ashie-Kotei – RAK VENTURES, Mr. John Watson Otumfuor – MAYFAIR ESTATES and Mr. Kaff Deku – ARMY SERVICE SHOP.
The soldiers were seen-off at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra, by Major Eunice Koranteng, Major Alfred Issaka from S&T and Lt Thelma Bawa Bezua – Second-In-Command, Five Forces Movement Unit.
Present at the ceremony were; Deputy Director S&T, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) AA Baba, Dep Dir Movement, Lt Col F Dennison, Commanding Officers from the various S&T units, as well as representatives from the partner companies.
