The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah led a high-powered delegation from the Military High Command to the Wa Naa’s Palace to apologize, in no uncertain terms, for the unfortunate situation involving soldiers of the Ghana Army, in the Wa Township.

The COAS, with the military delegation, went to the Upper West Region, a day after the unfortunate incidents occurred on Thursday, July 1, 2021, and assured the Overlord of Wa – Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV – that the Army High Command has ordered a quick investigation into the matter and those found culpable would be brought to book.

The COAS also met with the Regional Minister – Dr. Hafiz Bin-Salih, members of the Regional Security Council and other stakeholders to apologize and assure them of his resolve to get to the bottom of the matter.

The Military High Command, led by the COAS, encouraged the inhabitants of Wa to cooperate with the Military and be confident that justice would be served, adding that, the mandate of the Army in Wa, is to protect the citizens and national asserts in the Region and that the Army will need to win the hearts and minds of the citizenry to achieve that mandate.

General Oppong-Peprah, therefore, committed to ensuring that the Army remains professional and reassured the people of Wa that, this unfortunate situation will never occur again.
