The Ghana Army (GA), has temporarily moved the Headquarters of its Eleven Mechanized Battalion (11 Mech Bn), from the Bazua Camp, to the Regional Capital of Bolgatanga, after it had constructed, renovated and, in the name of the Army Commander – Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, commissioned the facilities.
The inauguration ceremony happened on Tuesday, 24th August, 2021, and was done jointly by the Upper East Regional Minister – Mr Stephen Yakubu and the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command (N/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Moses Mohammed Aryee, on the behalf of the Army Commander.
The parcel of land, which had some dilapidated structures thereon, was donated by the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council, to the GA, who decided to relocate the Battalion Headquarters.
The cost of the reconstruction works was jointly borne by the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) – Vice Admiral (V/Adm) Seth Amoama, the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Nuhu Issah Construction Ltd and Maxx Energy Ltd, with construction works done by Nuhu Issah Construction Company.
Present at the ceremony included the Commander of the Army Special Operations Brigade – Brig Gen Matthew Essien and some senior officers of the Ghana Armed Forces.
