The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) – Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah has presented four (4) desktop computers with printers and accessories, to the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Junior Division (Jnr Div), to help the unit in administration.

The items were presented to the Commandant of GAFCSC – Rear Admiral (R/Adm) Moses Beick-Baffour, on the behalf of the COAS, by the Director, Training, Army Headquarters (Army HQ) – Colonel (Col) Frank Tei, on Thursday, August 20th, 2020.

Speaking before the presentation, Col Tei indicated that the presentation is a gesture to indicate that the Military High Command, recognizes the importance of training in all its institutions and as a follow-up to that, the Army HQ looks at what it can do to support GAF’s training institutions.

Receiving the administrative aids, R/Adm Beick-Baffour intimated that, he had taken note of the importance Maj Gen Oppong-Peprah (Member of the Military College’s Control Board) attaches to training, and that it was the reason he was present personally, to receive the donation as a way of showing appreciation.

R/Adm Beick-Baffour recalled that about two months ago, the COAS sent his Chief Staff Officer (CSO) Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Michael Amoah Ayisi, to the college to discuss Directing Staff (DS) requirements, and has now followed with the donation, hence the Commandant is aware that General Oppong-Peprah is constantly thinking about the well-being of the officers and students of the college.

Admiral Beick-Baffour stated that the presentation of the items is timely, because the administration (which runs mainly on a regular budget, and also leans on the benevolence of donations from the Services and other institutions) had just partitioned some syndicate room into four offices, due to the expansion of the Division and had tried on their own, to furnish them, however, what remained to complete were exactly the items donated by the COAS.

Present at the presentation included the Assistant Commandant (ASCOM), Jnr Div – Brig Gen Albert Kwadwo Dawohoso, Brig Gen Adu of GAFCSC and Col Nangtonma of the Army HQ.

General Dawohoso, who assumed office on Friday, 17th July, 2020, when Jnr Div Course 73 was winding up, presented further needs that the prestigious college aspires to see them met, such as 15 laptops for non-teaching DS personnel, refurbishing of administrative pickup vehicle etc.

The military college is presently tutoring Jnr Div Course 74, which had students reporting on 27th of July, 2020 and were quarantined till August 7th, for face-to-face engagements to start on 10th August, with 60 participants from GAF (Army – 34, Navy – 7, Air Force – 7), Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and The Gambia.
