A change of Command has been effected for the successful transfer of authority of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command (N/COMD), from Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Francis Ofori to Brig Gen Moses Mohammed Aryee.

Military personnel and distinguished personalities on Monday July 15, 2019, converged at the Headquarters of Northern Command, Nyohini Camp, to witness the handing/taking over parade.

Addressing the gathering during the ceremony, Brig Gen Ofori recounted strides made by the military and other stakeholders, towards the implementation of the Dagbon Peace Roadmap, during his tenure.

“As I leave Command, I want to thank all troops who served with me to see the Dagbon Peace Implementation Roadmap to a logical conclusion – you are the best and it was such a pleasure leading you as the GOC and 6 Garrison Commander”, General Ofori said.

General Ofori added that his command philosophy, during his tenure, embodied care of personnel, describing it as a critical human resource a leader could count on to make a difference.

The outgone GOC added that the refurbishment of the Acheampong House for troops at Yendi, handed over to the detachment at Yendi on Sunday, June 16, 2019, was a boost for troops, as the dilapidated condition of the structure was affecting morale of troops.

“We must endeavor to build public confidence, not only by our capacity to provide the conducive environment for law abiding citizens to go about their legitimate duties, but also, the other side of us – empathy and support to our compatriots, in the communities around where we live”, the General said.

Brig Gen Ofori advised the new GOC to work effectively and collectively with personnel under his command and other stakeholders to maintain peace and security in the northern regions.

The Northern Regional Minister – Hon Salifu Saeed, commended the outgoing GOC for his contribution in maintaining peace in the Region, especially the Dagbon area and also welcomed the new GOC, urging him to work assiduously, to help resolve other impending conflicts in the Region.

As part of the ceremony, Lamashe-Naa Dublin Abdullai – Chief of Lamashegu, Tamale, conferred a chieftaincy title of Kpanman-Naa (Hard Worker) on Brig Gen Ofori, for his outstanding efforts for peace in the Region.
