The 4 Garrison Methodist and Presbyterian Church have celebrated its Golden Jubilee on the theme “celebrating 50 years of service to God, Growing stronger faith in righteousness”.
The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Obed Boamah Akwa, in an address at an event to mark the anniversary, said that the joy accompanying an anniversary celebration, is an achievement that everyone should be proud of and be thankful to God for.
General Akwa also said that the cardinal principle of every Christian is faith and righteousness, and therefore, emphasized the need for Christians to be pure in heart.
Major General (Maj Gen) Henry Kwami Anyidoho (rtd), the Guest Speaker at the celebration, on Sunday 17 November 2019, used the occasion to thank past chaplains, past and present members of the church for having kept the faith in the Lord, in bringing the Church to its current state.
General Anyidoho stated that fifty (50) years in the life of a church, is no mean achievement, therefore congregants must emulate such examples of the church, in their daily endeavours.
Dignitaries present at the celebration include the former Chief of Army Staff – Maj Gen Richard Opoku-Adusei (rtd), General Officer Commanding (GOC), Central Command of the Ghana Army – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Joseph Aphour, past Commanding Officer 4Bn and Former Chaplains of the Church.
